  my path needs to be revamped.. i do plan to have a serious discussion with elders and attend the kingdom hall.

  where that will lead, time will tell.. i am not leaving mitch.

  even if i did become a jehovah's witness and celibate again he would love me just the same and i him.. you cannot become ungay.

  Hi Mindfield,
  How are things going?
  I downloaded that episode (I think it is called Maximum Homerdrive) from Morpheus. However, when i try to play it, it won't work and says it has a player error. I should download it again and see if it will work this time. I don't know enough computer stuff to know why the file won't play.

  q 1: where does the bible say god's name is jehovah.. q 2: what's an apostate.

  q 3: what is the "evil slave vs good slave" i read this ealier sounds more like a movie in hollywood.. q 4: why would any one want to be a slave.

  q 5: why not give a child blood to save their lives.

  Hi Danni,
  As another outsider, I understand your fascination with the JW subject. Sometimes, the regular JW life feels like it is from another planet. I too looked for neutral sites and the closest one I found was http://www.religioustolerance.org/witness.htm#rel_tex also
  http://religiousmovements.lib.virginia.edu/nrms/Jwitness.html.

  The best help in actually understanding how a JW's mind works was from the people here on this site. There has been and still is very confusing behavior from the JW young man I know, and only from this site have I been able to understand a bit of his very conflicted life.

  I really, really understand your fascination though.

  the little girl stands for your family within the organization all the attempts they will make to encourage you to come back and have their approval if you will just submit.

  the best friend represents all those that you grew up with in the organization, people you have known all your life, those who you may see once a year at the district convention who rush up to you and are so happy to see you, they make you feel secure and a part of something.

  the government agent symbolizes the organization that has desperate need of your services.

  I haven't had the courage to see the movie yet. Schitzophrenia is a horrible, destructive, life destroying disease. FYI it has nothing to do with split personalities, rather is a chemical and receptor imbalance of the neurotransmittors in the brain. This can lead to halluciations, paranoia, hearing voices, withdrawal, complete lack of initiative, inablility to do daily living tasks, lack of understanding of consequences, inability to maintin any relationships and many others. There is no cure, and even the newest drugs used to control the disease have many unpleasant side effects. I feel very sorry for anyone who has to live with this disease, as they don't have an easy life at all.
  My Mom has had schitophrenia nearly her whole life.

  Hi Danni,
  Welcome to the board. I am another outsider who came here lookimg for information on this baffling JW sect/cult religion. What I learned here made a lot of sense and explained some of the things that have happened. My teenage daughter has a JW boyfriend, and he is a sweet, kind, moral kid, but yes, although he is pretty rebellious regarding his religion, he is still on a different road. To break away from this cult takes incredible personal courage and growth. JWs aren't evil, but they are brainwashed. They sometimes do very cruel things and truely believe that they are doing right. They just don't think. As an outsider, the more I look into it, the the mind control aspects are extremely scarey and bizarre.

  Help! First X-mas Party

  we've been invited to a christmas party monday night and i'm not sure what the protocol is.

  are we suppose to take a gift, bottle of wine, etc?.

  the guy thinks we are still witnesses, he said he still wants us to come, even though we don't celebrate it.

  A bottle of wine is very welcome to the host or hostess. A box of chocolates, or an interesting candle or unique small Christmas ornament are other ideas. I often make "nuts and bolts" at Christmas, and I have found that homemade treats are very well recieved. There are lots of pretty gift bags to put it in, or just tie a bow around the neck of the bottle. Make sure you attach a tag, so they can remember later who brought it.
  It isn't the expense of the present, it is the thought behind it.

  this post wont resonate so much with antipodean friends but for us in the northern hemisphere yesterday was the shortest day.

  i find a difference in my mood and feelings at this time of year.

  i have a distinct sense of foreboding when the clocks are set back in october.

  We, of the northern latitudes, REALLY appreciate the longer days to come. Sunset today is 4:16pm
  At least the sun we do have at this time of year is usually brilliant in cold blue skies.
  Christmas lights really sparkle reflected in the snow in the dark.
  I am still looking forward to spring.
  I forgot to mention that June 21, 2002 our sunrise is 5:04am and sunset is 10:07pm, so we make up for our lack of winter sunshine, then.

  I lean pretty heavily toward Yerusalyim and Mulan's point of view. As the Mom of 2 great teenagers, I am sort of surrounded by the culture. There is a whole lot of kids caught up in bad situations, and parents aren't seeing it, either through choosing not to deal with it, or not finding out about it. As kids grow in independence they tend to be pretty close mouthed, especially about stuff they know you won't be too happy about. If you have cause for concern, sometimes you have to take a careful snoop. BUT the important thing is how you handle the information. It means there is some new topics for open discusion and a lot of listening needed on both sides. berating them won't solve anything.

  There is no doubt that good kids can get in over their heads and have trouble asking for help.

  He passed away last night.

  i was in a bookstore trying to forget the day when my father called me and told me that my grandfather had died.

  he had passed only five minutes after we had left.. someone else was wondering what happens when we die.

  well, i was reading the chronicles on narnia (something i do when i'm feeling a little lost), and something at the end of the last battle caught me eye.. "the term is over: the holidays have begun.
